Marklin Train Set

From my father I inherited a considerable set of Marklin, WWII-era, train pieces (below).  My best guess in that this entire set was purchased by my father in the late 1940s or early 1950s.  It was certainly prior to 1953 because I vaguely remember the Marklin set up in the basement of our home in Colorado, and we moved from Colorado to Montana in 1952.  I don't know if the set was new or used when purchased.  A bit of research into the serial numbers for the engines and transformers would probably pinpoint exact vintage, but the collection was probably manufactured in 1948 or 1949.

I do remember that later, perhaps sometime in the 1970s, my father sent some of the engines off to a specialist for refurbishing.  I don't believe any of the engines have been operated since.

This entire collection needs a new home with someone who will appreciate it.
